Rachel Anger

Rachel Anger
All Breeds (MICHIGAN - USA)

Rachel Anger is from the Detroit, Michigan area, where she lives with her two teenage sons and works as a legal assistant for Michigan’s largest law firm. Rachel’s natural love and appreciation for all animals led her to become a CFA judge in 1994. Since that time, she has judged across the United States and Canada, as well as in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Holland. She has had the honor of judging several times at the CFA-Iams Cat Championship Show at Madison Square Garden, New York (including Best of the Best), as well as the CFA International Show in Houston, Atlanta and several times in San Mateo CA (including Best of the Best). Rachel appeared in the televised videos The Standard of Perfection and Cat-Minster.

Her judging philosophy is to “honor and respect each cat, each exhibitor and each fellow judge”, and through that philosophy has been fortunate enough to develop many life-long friends. Rachel has shown cats since 1978 and currently works with Maine Coons, European Burmese, and Cornish Rex at her Camberwell cattery. She also owns and shows Papillion dogs. One of her dogs recently won a Best in Show, as well as several Specialty Best in Show titles, and many group and breed placements. Rachel and her son also have a small aviary. Rachel is Chair of the CFA Judging Program and is serving her fourth term as Executive Secretary on the CFA Board of Directors. In 2008, she served as CFA’s delegate at the World Cat Congress annual meeting. She looks forward to continuing to serve the cat fancy, both behind the judging stand and at the board table.

Kurt Vlach

Kurt Vlach
All Breeds TICA (AUSTRIA)

I was born in Vienna/Austria in 1962. In the 1980ies I received my first cats (two Household Pets) and the first pedigreed cat, a Maine Coon, entered my household in 1991. Since this time I started showing, had the first MC -litter in 1993. I am the founder of Austria's first TICA-Club, the "Blue Danube Cat Club" and our club has organized since then more than 40 international shows. Under the cattery name "Dreamhunter" I bred successful Maine Coons, later Siamese and Oriental Shorthairs. In 1999 I became a TICA-Judge and have reached now the level of an Approved Allbreed Judge and School & Ring Instructor.

In "real life" I work for an international bank-group and my other hobbies are music (I am also writing for two opera-magazines), art and - unfortunately - good food. I am married to Tomoko since June 2009 and we live together with our five cats (1 Maine Coon, 2 Oriental Shorthairs, and 2 Household Pets) in the centre of Vienna.

Jill Henderson

Jill Henderson
Longhair/Companions & Domestics
(MELBOURNE – AUSTRALIA)

My involvement in the Cat Fancy began in 1991. I became licensed to Judge Group 2 exhibits (Sia/Ori/Bal/LHOri/FW/LHFW) in 1999. I am now in my eighth year with Governing Council of the Cat Fancy Victoria, and in 2004 successfully completed my Group 1 (All Longhair) Judges license.

With my husband Bob (now a retired television cameraman – after 50 years in the industry) we bred Siamese under the Prefix of ‘Jilanbo Siamese’. After several years away from breeding, we plan to start again in the near future.

We reside in Lilydale Victoria, located in the beautiful Yarra Valley wine growing region.

We have two sons (both television cameramen) two delightful grandchildren, all of whom are a continuing joy to us both.

My 26 years of Veterinary Nursing has assisted us with our breeding program, and we have enjoyed many successes on the Show bench with our beautiful Siamese cats and kittens.

2001 – GCCFV Group 2 Kitten of the Year.
2002 – GCCFV Group 2 Reserve Adult
2003 – GCCFV Group 2 Kitten on the Year.

From the ‘big’ cats in their natural African habitat, to our lovely pedigreed and domestic cats, there is nothing that surpasses the joy I experience when observing or judging a Fabulous Feline!

Sue Ford

Sue Ford
Senior Shorthair /Lh Transfer Panel Student
(NEW ZEALAND)

I am privileged to be judging at the Nationals in Napier for Patches and Pointed.

My first shorthair judging was in 2004 and I am currently undergoing training for the longhaired section.

My club has been Mid Island where I have been an office holder for many years and I also support BASH and Patches and Pointed. I am a member of NZCF judges’ council and an active member of NZCF Inc.

I have had a love of all animals since I was raised on a sheep and cattle farm which inevitably meant I had no option but to ride horses, raise pet lambs and calves as well as rescue stray cats. I had a succession of domestic cats; blues, red tabbies, black and whites, torties , both short and long haired.

My first pedigree cats were two seal point Siamese bought in the 80s but in 1992

I purchased my first Burmese, a chocolate and I was hooked. I decided to gain my prefix Tobormory and together with Rob my husband we have bred Burmese for about 14 years. We have been specialising for some years in silvers. More recently we have bred Burmillas . Our cats enjoy a farmlet life style with us in the Waikato in a small village called, Pirongia about 20 minutes southwest of Hamilton.

Best wishes to all participants, you all know you have the best cat to take home no matter whether it’s a place getter

With my husband John I have been breeding Birmans since 1987 when our prefix “Leegrgo” was granted. We have enjoyed some wonderful ‘show moments’ with several Best in Show Exhibits at National Show level.

Over the years we have continued with our Tabbypoint breeding programme with many of our cats holding multi titles.

I really enjoy my Judging (Senior Longhair Panel) and I am currently part of the Judges School working towards my Shorthair exams with the ultimate aim to gain All Breeds Status. I am also an Executive Council Member – Portfolio Manager (Judges) and Vice Chairman of NZCF Inc.

Roger Frittel

Roger Frittel
Longhair Judge GCCFV (MELBOURNE – AUSTRALIA)

Quite a lot of you people know me as a happy, always open and warm hearted person. I am very easy going and like a laugh.

Over 15 years ago (add a few more on!) I started showing a colourpoint Persian. I had so much fun, that I decided to start breeding, those “fluffy” little darlings. After 18 months of waiting for a very typey Persian female, she finally arrived from Sophie Hope -Johnstone (Solaris Cattery, Adelaide). I was so proud to show this beautiful black girl, her name was “Solaris Sweet Baroness”. Later on I received a black smoke Persian male kitten from “Mynamz Cattery” and that’s where it all began. I loved and still love breeding my smokes, of any colour. Over the years I introduced the tabby pattern. Now of course, I do breed one of the very attractive patterns, a stunner of a pattern … the Silver tabby. I was always very impressed with the orange eyed whites, yes I do agree with you, it is very hard, but, when you do have a beautiful O.E. White and present it in the proper way, it’s just breath taking. I’m still breeding pure Persians under the name “KOENIG CATTERY”

In 2003/04 I started my Group 1 Judges course and completed and passed this successfully. Thank you very much to all concerned. My first Group 1 Judging assignment was on September 12th, 2004 at the B.O.S.H Show. I couldn’t ask for a better start to Judge, I truly was in “Heaven”, a day I will never forget...

The meaning for me of having, breeding and Showing and now judging is “Enjoyment, Fun and lots of Laughs” They are my Keywords and will always be my Keywords. I hope that will never stop.

All Breeds TICA (AUSTRIA)

I was born in Nagoya, Japan and lived there until February 2009 when I moved to Vienna, Austria to my now husband Kurt. I came into the cat-fancy through my aunt who is the secretary of Japan's oldest cat club, the All Japan Cat Club which is located in Nagoya. I bred Siamese and Oriental Shorthairs under the cattery-name "Berezacat" which is registered with TICA. Throughout the years I had also many Household Pets and a Persian.

I became a TICA-judge in 2000 and am an Provisional Allbreed Judge, right now working on my exam to become an Approved Allbreed Judge. I had the chance to judge both TICA- and Traditional Shows all over the world - I was in Japan, Korea, Philippines, USA and of course now in many European countries. This is the first time for me to be in New Zealand and I am really looking forward judging all your cats - and also to see some breeds which are not yet recognized in my association for Championship Status!

Joanne Millar

Joanne Millar
All Breeds (CHRISTCHURCH – NZ)

I first began showing with the New Zealand Cat Fancy a Seal Tortie Point Siamese in 1978. In 1985 I began breeding Siamese and Orientals under the Ramaltal Prefix and Burmese in 1989.

For the past 17 years I have been breeding British Shorthairs and Scottish Folds under the successful prefix of Intrigue. I have actively promoted the delightful Scottish Fold through out NZ and was fortunate enough to breed New Zealand first Gold Double Grand Champion Scottish Fold, “Gold Dbl Gr Ch Intrigue Immortal Memory”. Five years ago my father died after a long battle with cancer and I joined my mother’s prefix of Kirov and am now assisting her in breeding the beautiful Russian Blue. One of the highlights of the 2008 show season was exhibiting New Zealand’s Best other Shorthair Entire Cat, a British Blue male, Gold Dbl Gr Ch Intrigue Sir Larfalot.

I have an extremely busy life, working full time as Office Manager for a mining company and running a small boarding cattery along with my husband, Lindsay. My spare time is dedicated to our cats, 2 dogs, my horse and our local Volunteer Fire Brigade of which I am a member.

I have been on the Judges panel since 1989 judging Shorthairs and in 2006 extended my licence to judge Longhairs. In 2009 I attained the status of All Breeds Judge for the NZ Cat Fancy Inc. I have consistently accepted appointments nationally as well as completing assignments in Tasmania, South Australia, NSW, Queensland, Canberra and Victoria.

I believe it is important to be professional, which contributes to the shows success and enjoyment by exhibitors and spectators. Shows should be fun: entertaining, educational and interesting. I thrive on the professional challenge of judging the wide variety of cats on the show bench and it is a privilege to judge and enjoy the beautiful cats entrusted to me on show day.

My aim when judging is to give an honest educated appraisal, and to be fair and consistent with all exhibits, and above all else to enjoy myself.
