My involvement with the Cat Fancy started for me after I purchased a persian kitten.  With my increasing interest I was talked into showing him by the Breeder:  Mrs Yvette Hughson with the Prefix “Tihi”.   

The first show was the 1976 Felix National Show in Canterbury.  That was my introduction to being involved in the world of beautiful felines, after spending the day being mesmerised by all the beautiful cats, my name was called, he was awarded Best N/S kitten.  I hugged the breeder as she had trained me well.   The stadium was full, hundreds of cats and thousands of people. 

I have now bred and shown many persians over the years achieving high awards including NZCF(Inc) Top Entire cat, Top kitten, Top N/S kitten and several other placings in Top N/S cats, also numerous Breeder Awards of Merit. 

With the interruption of Covid I took the opportunity to train as a Shorthair judge with a very special, knowable tutor.  The Tutor reached out to other registries to assist with the training of her pupils for knowledge and detail of different breeds and get information used on training schools through the Cat Fanciers of America CFA Inc. and Australia.  This exercise was very interesting with excellent learning and training skills, even though it was sitting up in the early hours of a morning looking at a screen for hours.   

My achievement as an All-Breeds judge is to give a very fair and true assessment of the standard required for each bred.    

Plus carry out my position in a professional manner.  I thoroughly enjoy judging, plus assessing the many breeds seen at shows.
